New Site Coming

It's been a while since we've updated the blog. Why?

A new baby, a new 6000 square ft. studio, a new home, and we've been busy. Very busy. In the next few weeks we'll be rolling out a new site with new work. We'll also be removing this blog and will be setting up a new one that is a bit more dynamic Heck, we'll even update it a bit more often than every 24 months!

The Flattening of the Photography World

One of the great services that we offer is remote access to our studio. Basically, we are able to broadcast in real-time what is being seen through our cameras and on our computer screens during the shoot. This has proven to be a great success and a huge cost-saver for our clients. What this means for potential clients is that art direction can come from virtually anywhere in the world. We can even connect multiple team members in different locations to our studio.

We’re not talking helmet cams and grainy video, here! What our clients see on their computer screen is exactly what appears on our screens. Feedback is given in real-time through IRC(Chat) or voice. This approach has allowed us to produce high-end digital photography for clients in San Francisco, New York and even just across town.

Lee Kirgan Photography Launches New Site

In conjunction with our new blog, and re-branding by Rivet Branding in Austin, Texas, we are proud to announce the launch of our new website. Check out our capabilities here and feel free to jump into one of the the two galleries at any time by using the arrows in the blue navigation column. As of now, the galleries are divided by product and still-life in gallery 1 and by people in gallery 2. We'll be updating each gallery with new images every month and will be adding additional galleries as needed. Great design by Matt Mowat and coding by Craig Anderson at NetLogix Data.

A Look Inside the Lee Kirgan Photography Studios, Austin, Texas

Something went horribly wrong in this first shot! Let me say that I know my place is behind the camera and that I seldom step in front of the camera by choice. What started as "wouldn't it be cool if...." ended up with me filling several roles for the shot. Truth is that I have filled all the roles at one time or another. The pay-off is the shot of me on the screen--you can see a larger version here.

Below is a second shot of Studio B at the Lee Kirgan studios. In the foreground you see Jason Griego in the digital tech role. Seated in the yellow chair and holding a Gretag card is Jesse James Parker. Patrick Brown is adjusting the light behind Jesse. Yours truly is operating the Hasselblad with P25 digital back and ring-flash. Check the larger version here and look at the screen. You'll find it hard to not say, "THIS IS SPARTA."

THE TEAM: Patrick Brown, Jason Griego, Cambria Harkey and Jesse James Parker. These are the go-to people who make every day at the studio an absolute joy. Without hesitation I feel this is one of the best photo teams in the country. Jason, Cambria and Patrick are all accomplished shooters and Jesse--his middle name really is James--brings his film and photography experience to each shoot. I am blessed to have one or all these guys on set at any time. Thanks, guys! You make the work even more fun and you make me look great!
